Working on movies is not a glamorous job. It’s a good work environment, but there are times where you want to give it all up and just work as a welder or some trade where you’re not sitting behind a computer for 12+ hours a day. After all was said and done, when I calculated all the overtime accumulated from this movie, I could take a theoretical 3 and a half months off. That’s 560 or so hours of OT. Pretty insane. Since the end of last October, I didn’t work a week less than 45 hours except for xmas.

I’m currently on week 3 of 6 of my vacation. I’ve been relaxing, taking photos, reading some financial books cause I have to start getting my finances in order if I want to get a house in the next 3 years. Iv’e been playing some new games and enjoying the beach and the lake and cleaning the atom bomb which is our apartment hehe. I’ll be posting some photos in the next few days and starting a new 2006 gallery. I need to work on my reel too.

    Congrats man!
    Get some well deserved R & R.

Doing the financial thing here too. How’s property in your neck of the woods?
Unfortunately in the States, housing has spiraled out of control.
Small shacks are running into the millions. Hopefully things will calm down a bit so I can jump in.

Great to see a fellow rider in the VFX field. Great riding videos by the way.
How’s the scene out there? Do you still keep up with it?
Some great riders in Canada. Remember Chase Gouin?

Winnipeg is probably one of the cheapest places to live in canada, but we’re going through the same housing boom as everyone else. Houses that were worth 80K a few years ago are going for 130K or so now. It’s pretty discouraging to spend about 100K on a house that’s pretty much a shack. I’m hoping to save up enough so that I’ll be able to get something nice when the time comes around.

Thanks for the compliments on the riding videos :) I had fun making them back in the day. :) The riding scene is really small in winnipeg, but I haven’t really been into it too much in the last few years. There’s a brand new skatepark that just opened up like 2 days ago that’s getting some good reviews. it’s the only bowl with interior lighitng in the world aparently. Check out http://www.winnipegskateparks.com

What studio are you at? Feel free to email me if you want. Did you work on superman too?

Unfortunately I didn’t work on Superman but by some of the horror stories I hear maybe I’m lucky… lol

    I work in broadcast design/mograph.

I’ll tell you that there seems to be a much more active riding scene out there than in many parts of the states. At least the flatland scene. I don’t ride as much either. Those injuries don’t heal as quickly as they use to.

I’ll definitely email you one of these days. Thanks again.
