Superman Returns…

Well, the lack of updates, and the lack of poker playing can be directly blamed on the crazy visual effects direction and supervision of Mark Stetson for Superman returns. I’ve been a slave to this film for the last chunk of my life. :) It should all be over soon, and we can get back to some semblance of routine and see the sun for a change.

The latest international trailer that was released a few days ago has 2 of my shots in it for a grand total of 47 frames, hehe. The shot with the missile coming off the back of the boat is my comp, and the shot of the kryptonite cylinder is also mine, but was largely composited by someone else before it got thrown on my lap for the trailer.

Cool stuff. I like that one frame of flare at the end of the rocket.
I hope you get some well-deserved time off afterwards.
Are the effects done specifically/temporarily for the trailer?

90% of the time, shots for the trailer are different than they’ll appear in the film. They actually added a trailer shot on the day of the trailer delivery lol! Those two shots specifically, the boat one was finalled for the trailer, and there was no more time to make changes for final, so that one is staying as it is. The other comp went back to it’s original owner where it was tweaked some more before being finalled.

If you can believe it, we’re still delivering shots, and the movie comes out in a month :)
